Our professional bodies have advised that we can re-open and offer face-to-face appointments. We want to let you know about the current situation.
Although the practice doors have been closed, we have always been here to speak with patients over the phone or reply to email enquiries. During this time we have been working hard to introduce additional measures to make our environment safe for our patients, our staff and the wider public. The changes have been made as a result of the Government’s guidance on coronavirus (COVID-19). A full risk assessment has been undertaken and all infection control procedures are in place.
Our door is now open and we are able to take appointments again. Eyecare now looks a bit different however and will change as we move through this pandemic. We are able to take appointments for routine tests but we will be initially prioritising patients with a more immediate concern. This includes those who have changes in vision or require new spectacles or contact lenses due to visual difficulties, or because they have lost or broken their existing spectacles. If you are due your routine appointment and are not experiencing any difficulties we will aim to offer you an appointment in around 4- 6 weeks. If you are shielding or vulnerable please make us aware.
In order to aid social distancing, we ask you to attend the practice alone where possible. If you need to be accompanied please try to let us know in advance. We are limiting the number of people in the practice at one time so if we are full we may ask you to wait outside. There are a few things you can do to help us, and us to help you.

We thank you for being patient with us, there are lots of changes we need to get used to. It will not be business as usual and we are limited to how many patients we can see in one day. The appointments will be more spaced out to reduce the number of people in the practice at any one time and allow time for thorough cleaning between appointments. Some staff will be wearing more protective equipment to help you at close proximity. The eye testing routine may be different. The examination will be tailored to the reason for your visit. Any frames tried on will be appropriately disinfected.
Most importantly, don’t worry! We are here to help you and keep you safe. Although some of us may now all be hidden under masks and various other weird and wonderful items of protective equipment, we are just the same super friendly people underneath!
